For many moms including myself, the birthday party planning is as much fun of the actual event. Choosing the theme, finding the venue and organising the party makes the days if not weeks, leading up to the party as exciting as the celebration itself. The party doesn’t need to be extravagant, the birthday child will be happy as long as they are made to feel special. However, even a simple party requires planning, and the sooner you get started, the easier the process becomes as there are fewer ‘last minute’ issues to sort out. This list has been compiled to summarise a few Kids Party Venues in Cape Town. I have tried to get venues from various locations and suburbs in and around Cape Town as well as various budget options. My personal preference is always a venue at which self catering is allowed, but I have also added some which do not allow self catering.

Bugz Playpark
I used the venue for my sons 3rd birthday party, and have attended a few parties here as well. Although it doesn’t allow you to bring in any food, and platters are a bit pricey, I would still recommend it due to the amount of activities available for the kids as well as for the friendly and helpful staff. There are a variety of indoor and outdoor party venues to choose from.

Iziko Planetarium and Museum
I hired the venue for my daughters 8th birthday party. I chose it due to the fact that it’s an indoor venue, as my daughter’s birthday is in the heart of winter! Also, it allows self catering, is reasonably priced and offers ‘educational’ entertainment for kids. Read more about it here.

The Blue Train Park
This is a beautiful outdoor venue less than 25 m from the Atlantic Ocean, with Lionshead, Signal Hill and Table Mountain in the background. Definitely a favourite, and it’s worthwhile checking them out if you are planning a party in the warmer spring or summer months.

Rush
“Rush is an indoor extreme Trampoline Park with 1500-2500 square meters of adventure, excitement, fun and challenges.” – Rush Webpage
I have not attended a party at this venue yet, but it comes highly recommended by many moms and is worth checking out.

Ottery Barnyard
I attended a party at the venue in December 2015. The staff were extremely friendly and the kids loved interacting with the animals.

Kids Shack
“The Kids Shack is an awesome indoor play venue for children aged 0 – 12 years.” – Kids Shack webpage.
I attended a party at the venue in August 2014. I like the fact that it allows self catering and that it’s an indoor play venue, making it suitable for winter parties as well 🙂

Its an indoor family ‘fun park’, suitable for kids age 3 and older. Activities include; Clip ‘n Climb, Trampoline Zone, Kids’ Maze and AltiGame. Check out the website for more information on the activities and party options.

Cape Town Science Centre
I have not attended a party at this venue, but it comes recommended by a few parents. It’s an indoor venue and allows self catering. It’s more suitable for older kids.

I have not attended a party at this venue, but it comes recommended by a few parents. I like the fact that it allows self catering and has indoor play areas, making it suitable for winter parties as well 🙂

Boot Camp Cape Town
They offer army themed Boot Camp kids parties. I have not attended one of their parties hence cannot comment on the experience, but it seems to be an interesting option for older kids.

Another option which works out a bit more cost effective if having a large number of guests is to hire a small hall, such as a small community hall or the hall of one of the schools in your area. You then hire the decor, jumping castle and whatever else you require and DIY , alternatively get an event planner to do the entire set up for you.
